Semi Permanent Make-up FAQ's

FAQ's

Q: Does it look natural?
A: Yes, if you go to a reputable and highly experienced practitioner, your permanent makeup will look as natural and attractive as conventional cosmetics - indeed, because it has been applied by a professional makeup artist it will look sensational!

Q: Who would benefit from Permanent Makeup?
A: Anyone who wants to look their best anytime or anywhere should consider permanent enhancements. You will look younger, fresher and more attractive and will save valuable hours every week by not having to apply and reapply your makeup.
Permanent makeup is also ideal for people who take part in sport, have difficulty applying makeup or are allergic to cosmetics. It can also help to camouflage scarring and bring life-changing benefits to alopecia sufferers and to people who have had breast reconstruction work or have experienced hair loss following chemotherapy treatment.

Q: Does it hurt?
A: There's nothing to worry about on that score. Some clients have likened the sensation to having their eyebrows tweezed. A simple cream will help if you do feel any discomfort.

Q: What features can you improve?
A: We can give you beautiful eyebrows and lashes and perfect lips. Under our medical procedures we can help people who have suffered hair loss or have had breast surgery.

Q: What will I look like after my treatment?
A: Although some people may have a little swelling or redness this will soon disappear. For the first few days after your treatment, your makeup will look a little darker but the colours will soon lighten to create your desired look.

Q: Can I still wear conventional makeup?
A: Yes, permanent makeup is designed to enhance your natural features but you still have the option of 'ringing the changes' by applying conventional makeup.

Q: What happens during a treatment?
A: After an initial consultation the shape and colour of your treatment is agreed on between the client and technician and the pigment is placed into the skin accordingly. The whole process for one area takes approximately one hour and a half. The treatment is painless as a topical numbing agent is used throughout the treatment.

Q: How soon can I go out?
A: You can usually go about your daily routine immediately but some clients experience some swelling and redness which normally subsides within 48 hrs. The colour will be approximately 40% darker and the area may be dry and flaky for 3-7 days after the treatment.

Q: How long will the effects last?
A: You should consider it to be permanent, however over time the colour will fade as the skin rejuvenates. Some pigment will remain in the skin permanently but will gradually fade over time. It varies from client to client but generally lasts 3 to 5 years. We recommend a colour boost within 2 years to maintain freshness.

Q: What if fashions change?
A: We would never perform a treatment that is too dramatic or trendy. The idea is to enhance rather than change your features. Colours are chosen to compliment your skin tone, hair and eye colour. Colours can be intensified or changed at any time if you wish.

Q: Is there any chance of infection?
A: The strictest sterilisation procedures are adhered to at all times. A new, single use disposable, sterile needle is used for your complete safety. All procedures conform to the British and European Health and Safety standards. Lip treatments may occasionally cause a cold sore. Clients who are prone to an outbreak should use a topical treatment for a few days beforehand.

Q: What about allergic reaction?
A: Tattoo pigments have been used for thousands of years and reactions are very rare. Nouveau Contour pigments are of the highest grade and are hypoallergenic. However we do always advise a patch test.
